New London Doctor's Patients Reassigned After Sexual Assault Accusations

Patients of Dr. Wilton Calderon, a doctor with the Lawrence + Memorial Medical Group, accused the Old Lyme resident of sexual misconduct.

Patients of Dr. Wilton Calderon will be seeing other doctors after the Old Lyme resident was accused of sexually mistreating patients at his prior practice, located in Wisconsin.

Online records indicate he is a doctor with the Lawrence + Memorial Medical Group. but the group spokesman, Mike O’Farrell, told The Day Calderon was practicing in its New London facility but had taken a leave of absence in late 2015.

Calderon was arrested on the following charges after former Wisconsin patients accused him of inappropriate touching, among other sexual behavior:

  • 4 felony counts of third-degree sexual assault
  • 6 misdemeanor counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree

According to FOX61, Calderon allegedly exchanged an undisclosed type of medicine for sexual contact with someone who used to be a patient.

He is accused of positioning himself close to patients so they were touching him during exams and allegedly fondled patients in an inappropriate manner, according to the Stevens Point Journal.
