New London Mayor Invites All to Celebrate Supreme Court Ruling
An event to celebrate the nationwide legalization of same-sex marriage will be held tonight, and all are welcomed by the mayor.

New London Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio, as well as several other top state officials, celebrate today’s Supreme Court decision that extended same-sex marriage rights across all 50 states by inviting town and regional residents to a celebratory gathering organized by OutCT at 6:30 p.m. Friday at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church on Jay Street, The Day reported.
Following the gathering, Finizio invites all to join the LGBTQ community at the Brass Rail on Bank Street, The Day reported.
“I am overwhelmed with emotion at the full legal recognition granted by the United States Supreme Court to same sex married couples. My husband Todd and I can hardly believe that this day has arrived,” said Finizio in a statement, according to The Day. “When we both came out as legal adults, our private consensual acts could be legally criminalized. When we met a decade ago there was no legal recognition whatsoever for our relationship.”
