UPDATED: Police Say Man Shot By Officers In Stable Condition
Roads Reopened In Area Of Shooting; Investigation Continues
10:12 a.m., Sunday: New London Deputy Chief Marshall Segar issued a statement at 10 a.m., stating that the man shot Saturday night by New London officers is in stable condition at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Segar said the man's identity is being withheld pending notification of family "of his condition and circumstances."
Segar said state police are continuing their investigation into the shooting, and the New London department will have no further comment.

Original story: Area police departments are investigating a shooting of a suspect by a New London police officer, Deputy Chief Marshall Segar of the said in a press release early Sunday. The brief said that the suspect was taken to for injuries but is alive.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Highland Avenue. A major crime scene truck was at the scene with ambulance and medic trucks, the local and state police.

According to Segar, dispatchers received a call at 8:03 p.m. on Saturday reporting that a shooting had taken place at 1110 Ocean Ave. and that the shooter was still in the building. Responding officers found a man standing outside the residence, who told police he was the man they were looking for and pulled a firearm from his clothing. Officers took cover, drew their weapons, ordered the man to drop the gun, and opened fire when the man refused.
No one else was injured in the shooting. Segar said no information on the identity of the man would be released at this time. Investigation is ongoing and will be conducted by the Connecticut State Police and State's Attorney's Office. Officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
According to Patch archives, a 46-year-old woman living at the address was arrested on a charge of sixth-degree larceny on Feb. 28.
