Man Charged With Manslaughter In New London Beating Death: Report

A man already facing assault charges is also being accused of manslaughter in connection with a New London case, according to a report.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man is being charged with first-degree manslaughter in the beating death of a 42-year-old man at an assisted living facility, The Day of New London reported.

Matthew Ellis, 29, had already been charged with first-degree assault in the July 7 incident.

He is accused of beating Lance Allen, who was hospitalized with serious injuries from an assault that occurred at Ellis' unit at Briarcliff Manor at 170 Colman St. in New London.

Allen died due to his injuries Aug. 7.
