Police Arrest Man With Loaded Pistol: New London Chief

A man was allegedly found in possession of a loaded .22 caliber pistol while not having a permit.

A New London Police Department Patrol Division member observed Donnie Moore Jr. walking in the area of Williams Street and State Pier Road at approximately 10:12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17.

“The officer recognized Moore from prior contacts and had recent knowledge that Moore may be in possession of a firearm as well as violent events,” according to New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.

The man was allegedly in possession of a loaded .22 caliber pistol.

“Moore does not have a permit to carry a pistol or handgun,” Reichard said.

He was taken into custody without further incident and was charged with possession of a piston without a permit.

Moore was held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond.
