Police Catch Car Burglar In The Act

Victor Rivera, Jr., was arrested after a brief foot chase in the early morning hours of November 28 after police found him allegedly attempting to steal a car stereo.

At 3:30 a.m. on November 28, New London police received a 911 call of a vehicle break-in in progress in the parking lot of 187 Huntington Street. Upon officers arrival to the scene, the suspect fled. Police caught the suspect after a brief foot chase.

The suspect, identified as Victor Rivera Jr., 24, of 73 Oneco Avenue, #22, New London, was apparently in the process of removing the vehicle's stereo when police arrived. Police said he had a number of burglar's tools in his possession at the time.

Rivera has been charged with burglary in the 3rd degree, criminal attempt at larceny in the 6th degree, interfering with police, criminal mischief in the 3rd degree and possession of burglar's tools. He was being held on a $10,000 bond.
