Reported Threat At New London School Investigated

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said a reported threat involving Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School was determined to be without any merit.

As a precautionary measure, a "secure in place" protocol was enacted, police said.

"The location has been thoroughly checked, and we are pleased to report that everyone is safe," police said. "In addition, as a further safety measure, cursory checks of other NL schools were initiated to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. No valid threat was determined to exist. The department is actively working with other law enforcement partners to investigate the matter."
