Five things to help you plan your day in New London on Tuesday, August 27, 2013

1. What's the Weather? This morning's rain should clear as the day goes on and we might even see some sun this afternoon. Weather.com is predicting a high of 78 degrees with an overnight low of 65 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

2. Fish n' Ships: Celestial maritime paintings by New Haven’s Tony Falcone and marine sculptures by New Haven’s Gar Waterman are on show until August 31 along with other maritime art available for viewing and purchase at THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE, 239 Bank Street, www.firehousesquare.com.

3. Art, Naturally: This is the final week of Frank Kaczmarek and Jeff Sims joint exhibit of nature photography at Studio 33 Art and Frame Gallery, 140 Bank Street, New London. The show closes August 31.

4. Improvements to Union Station. A Public Meeting will be held in the 1st Floor Conference Room at 111 Union Street (Stanton Building) at 7:00 p.m. to discuss a proposal to fund needed work at Union Station. A representative from Connecticut DOT will be on hand to discuss the project, which includes making the facility compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, fixing masonry, and improve heating and air conditioning.

5. Municipal Meetings: The Housing Authority meets this evening at 5:15 p.m. at the George Washington Carver Community Room in City Hall.
