The Schedule For New London's Hope Week Events

May 19 kicks off the eighth annual Hope Week celebrations in New London. The series of events hosted by New London Public Schools and community partners aims to "send a powerful message that we, as a community, stand united in our willingness and our resolve to help and support our youth."

The following events will take place as part of Hope Week:

May 19

Neighbor Day, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Riverside Park. The event includes arts and crafts, music and dance performances, and more.

May 21

Magnet School Community Forum, 6 p.m., Science and Technology Magnet High School. The event will discuss the plan to transition New London Public Schools to an all magnet school district.

May 22

Science, Art, and Community Partners Fair, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Science and Technology Magnet High School. Residents are invited to renew science, art, and other classroom projects from New London students.

May 23

Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School chorus concert, 7 p.m., Science and Technology Magnet High School

An effective leadership discussion hosted by Curtis Goodwin will be taped and played on the NLPS public access channel.

May 24

Everybody Dance Talent Show, featuring New London High School students, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at New London High School

May 25

Spring Book Sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Library of New London. The sale will continue from May 28-31.

May 26

A candlelight ceremony in honor of Memorial Day will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Parade Plaza
