To Know For Thursday: New London School Budget, Race Rock

A regular 7 p.m. Board of Education meeting on Thursday will be preceded by a Citizens Advisory Committee meeting at 5 p.m. and parents' conversation at 6 p.m. All meetings will take place at the lecture hall of the Science and Technology Magnet High School. 

The CAC meeting will elect a chair, set meeting dates, and discuss issues related to the New London Public Schools achievement gap. The regular board meeting will include adoption of the 2014 fiscal year budget, approval of the strategic operating plan for the next three school years, and a job description for a STEM administrator at STMHS.

The New London Maritime Society will also officially take stewardship of a second lighthouse on Thursday. The General Services Administration is transferring ownership of Race Rock Light to the society at 10 a.m. at the Custom House Maritime Museum. The group has also had ownership of the New London Harbor Light since 2010.
