Today In New London: Adieu To Two Columns, The Exorcist, Taxes Due

1. The tax rate is under challenge at a referendum vote taking place on Tuesday, but it isn't changing the due date on New London tax bills. July 31 is the last day to get payments in to the tax collector before penalties go into effect.

2. Hygienic Art likes to serve refreshments with some connection to the movie playing at their "Summer Flickers" series, but hopefully they'll forgo pea soup tonight. The horror classic The Exorcist will be shown at 8 p.m. at Hygienic Art Park.

3: Coming later today on New London Patch: Or rather, not coming later. Upcoming events will not be outlined in a Week Ahead column to be posted on Monday morning and a Weekend Planner to be posted on Friday morning. As such, This Week in New London will no longer be posted on Wednesdays and The Sounds of New London will no longer be posted on Fridays, as this information will be incorporated into the new columns.

4. Elsewhere on Patch: Remember the uproar in New London over the Munchies food truck? Montville is going through a similar debate now as it looks at its vendors, peddlers, and solicitors ordinance.
