Tug of War At Williams School

The Williams School in New London celebrated the opening day of its 123rd academic year yesterday and though many things have changed over the years, a few opening day traditions continue at the school from year to year.   

In addition to the regularly scheduled classes, the school had an opening assembly at the beginning of the day and an all school photograph at the end of the day. The most fun for students, however, is the Tug-of-War competition between the classes.
 
About The Williams School
Founded in 1891, The Williams School is an independent, co-educational, day school for grades 7 to 12. Grade six will be added in the 2014-2015 academic year. Located on the Connecticut College campus in New London, Williams serves students from 42 communities spanning from West Haven, CT to Westerly, RI. Williams provides a college preparatory program centered on a classical, liberal arts curriculum and small class sizes. The Williams School fosters the intellectual, moral, aesthetic, and physical development of young men and women in preparation for a lifetime of learning and active participation in a changing society.
