New Milford Police Officer Shot, Suspect Arrested and Held on $500,000 Bond
The New Milford man refused to comply with officers' orders to drop his weapon and fired, striking a New Milford police officer.

New Milford, CT — State Police detectives from Western District Major Crime (WDMC) are investigating a shooting in New Milford on June 26 at approximately 2:30 p.m. which resulted in the injury of a New Milford police officer, according to State Police.
The New Milford Police Department was dispatched to 30 Candlewood Lake Road South for a reported disturbance when they found a white male, later identified as Kevin Mohan, in possession of a handgun, police said. When officers arrived they said the suspect in the apartment complex was making threats.
Mohan refused to comply with officers' orders to drop his weapon and fired, striking Officer Charles Cochran in the ankle, police said. New Milford police officers used a taser, disarmed Mohan and took him into custody, according to a report.

Cochran was transported to New Milford Hospital where he was treated and released, police said. Mohan was transported to New Milford Hospital for evaluation,was released from New Milford Hospital and held on $500,000 bond pending his court date.
Mohan, 46, was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and breach of peace.
