• Battery farms are coming to CT. Here's what they do — and why they're sparking debate (newstimes.com) — State energy planners are studying a large 142-megawatt battery storage project proposed for New Milford that would plug into the regional power grid and support Connecticut’s clean-energy goals. The piece explains how these “battery farms” work, their potential to cut costs and emissions, and the safety and oversight concerns that have sparked debate in other communities.

• Verizon says ‘unreliable or non-existent service' is at stake in latest Brookfield cell tower battle (newstimes.com) — Verizon’s new cell tower proposal in Brookfield could affect coverage that now partly relies on facilities in nearby towns, including New Milford. The company says a 175-foot tower near Lake Lillinonah would fix serious service gaps, while more than 200 Brookfield residents argue it’s unnecessary and harmful to property values. State regulators will hold a public hearing before deciding by late May.

• Here are 25 Connecticut CIAC high school boys swimmers to watch in the 2025-26 season (newstimes.com) — A New Milford High School junior, Liam Fletcher-Ford, is singled out among 25 boys swimmers to watch statewide after strong State Open and Class M freestyle finishes last season. The list highlights top returning athletes from schools across Connecticut as the 2025–26 CIAC swimming season gets underway.
