Newtown Parks & Rec Commission to Tackle Aquazip, Budget At Special Meeting
The commission will discuss the Aquazip Pool Amenity, 2026-27 budget, and fundraising strategies.
NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Newtown Teen Center, located at 53 Church Hill Road in Newtown.
Members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting, though seating will be limited. Attendees requiring assisted hearing devices should contact the Office of the First Selectman at 203-270-4201 at least 48 hours before the meeting.
The agenda includes the acceptance of minutes from the Dec. 9 meeting. Old business items slated for discussion and potential action include the Aquazip Pool Amenity, matters related to the Teen Center, and strategies for fundraising, new special events, and activities. The commission will also review the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the 2026-27 budget.

New business items on the agenda involve discussion and potential action on the Commission Meeting Calendar for 2026. A meeting regarding surcharge and field use will also be addressed. Additionally, the repair of the Treadwell Scoreboard is listed for discussion.
The meeting will also include correspondence, reports from the Chairman, Director, and Assistant Directors, and an update from Commissioners on their activities, known as “Commissioner’s Out and About.”
