Newtown Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Thursday evening on Hawleyville Road, near the westbound Exit 9 off-ramp of Interstate 84.

Police said the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. and involved a commercial vehicle that may have been parked along the roadside in front of Papa Al’s shopping center at the time.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle to contact the Newtown Police Department at 203-426-5841 as soon as possible.

Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area while the investigation continues. The roadway will remain closed until further notice.

Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
