Newtown Police Warn of of Scammers Calling for Donations for Police K9 Unit
Newtown Police said the man told the resident he would personally pick up the money at a prearranged place and time.
Newtown, CT — On June 15, 2016 the Newtown Police Detective Division said they initiated an investigation based on a resident's complaint of a solicitor representing himself as a K9 Officer collecting money for the Newtown Police K9 Unit.
Police said the man told the resident he would personally pick up the money at a prearranged place and time.
The Newtown Police is advising residents that they are not currently engaged in any fundraising effort and if residents feel they were a victim of fraud to call Det. McAnaspie at 203-426-5841.
