Hi, I’m Justin Birtwell — owner and sole inspector at Maxim Home Inspections. I grew up in Derby helping my dad manage commercial properties, then worked as a civil engineer designing subdivisions and surveying properties. This experience gave me a deep understanding of structural loads, drainage, soil issues, and how homes really work — knowledge most inspectors lack. Later, I renovated and managed my own investment properties: ripping out rotted floors at 2 a.m., fixing foundations, finishing basements, and learning every costly shortcut firsthand. Those experiences now save my clients thousands. Credentials: CT-licensed, InterNACHI; CAHI certified, FAA drone pilot, FLIR thermographer, and one of the few CT inspectors certified to fully evaluate residential solar PV systems (performance, safety, value).
