Newtown Inland Wetlands To Address Unpermitted Activity, Erosion Control (patch.com) — Newtown residents may want to follow the Inland Wetlands Commission’s Jan. 14 meeting, where officials will review erosion control plans on Waterview Drive and replanting at Stone Bridge Trail, and hold a show cause hearing on alleged unpermitted work on High Bridge Road. Newtown Animal Care Advisory Board Reappoints Officers, Considers Donations And Regulatory Role (patch.com) — Newtown’s Animal Care and Control Advisory Board has reappointed its officers for 2026 and formed a committee to explore how the town should handle private donations to the animal shelter, including memorial gifts from residents. Members also began debating whether the board should gain regulatory authority over shelter operations, while discussing improvements for cats’ welfare and adoption visibility through local partnerships.
   

5. Newtown Legislative Council Approves Revised Deed Restrictions For 6 Commerce Road Open Space (patch.com) — Newtown residents will see long-debated deed restrictions at 6 Commerce Road updated while the 11-acre parcel remains preserved for passive recreation. The Legislative Council also made key committee appointments and heard a sobering update on the town’s Medical Self-Insurance Fund, which faces a projected multi-million-dollar deficit and planned premium increases. These decisions could shape both land use and employee health costs in Newtown for years ahead.
