Occupation:
20+ years as a Human Resources Professional

Family:
My husband and I have two school-aged children in the Newtown Public Schools. We share our home with our two dogs (Toby and Ruby) and two cats (Archie, Trip).

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Currently serve on the Newtown Board of Education

Why are you seeking this office?
I’m grateful for the privilege to serve on the BOE and am proud of the great work happening across our district. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving our students, families, staff and the greater school community.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Outside influences have moved our civic discourse away from a focus on what is best for Newtown. In speaking with voters, many topics have surfaced, particularly investment in our schools, protecting our environment and prudent fiscal management. The best outcomes will only be realized by problem solving that includes broad and diverse points of view, respectful dialogue, and a focus on serving the best interests of Newtown.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
In addition to my professional experience, I have served on the Board of Education since December 2023. As part of the BOE I have served on the Superintendent Search Committee, Chair the Policy Sub-Committee, am a member of the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion Committee, and am the Board Liaison to three union contract negotiations having also served as the liaison to a union contract negotiation last year.
