$194k CT Grant To Pave the Way For 100-Job North Haven Project

A $194k grant from the state will allow an environmental assessment of the former Circuit-Wise property at 400 Sockett Point, which is the first step into turning it into the area's first LEED certified recycling materials recovery facility.

This week, it was announced that North Haven will receive a $194,100 grant from the state, the first step to the area's first LEED certified recycling materials recovering facility at the former Circuit-Wise property.

The grant will pay for an environmental investigation and assessment of 400 Sackett Point, the former Circuit-Wise property, according to a press release. The assessment will enable design and implementation of appropriate remedies to soil and groundwater impacts in accordance with state regulations, according to the release.

Once it is cleaned, Global Environmental Services is proposing to build the area’s first LEED certified recycling materials recovery facility with food waste composting capacity at the site, according to the release. The project would create up to 100 jobs, according to the release.

“This piece of land represents a great opportunity for our town and state,” said State Rep. Dave Yaccarino, R-North Haven, in a press release. “The investment we are making now is small compared to the benefits we can reap in the future by improving the environment and creating more quality jobs.”
