Woman Receives 35 Year Prison Sentence for Bar Stabbing

Mary Ames, the woman convicted in January of this year of murder, was sentenced May 18 to 35 years in prison by a panel of three Superior Court judges, as the New Haven Register reported.

Ames was convicted of stabbing bartender Christopher Hall at Doran's Restaurant in North Haven.

According to reports, Ames stabbed Hall over a dispute involving a drink she was owed over a game of pool.

Michael Ames, her son, was also involved in the bet and its misunderstanding. He faces a charge of hindering prosecution for allegedly helping his mother flee the scene, returning to their North Haven home, as the newspaper reported.
