Armed Man Taken Into Custody After Hours-Long Standoff: North Haven PD

The man, who was wanted by East Haven police, was in possession of a rifle during the standoff at a home in North Haven, police said.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was taken into custody after surrendering following an hours-long standoff with police at a home in North Haven on Wednesday morning, according to police.

North Haven officers assisted the East Haven Police Department around 12:30 a.m. with trying to arrest 24-year-old Jovierre Reveron of New Haven in connection with a family violence incident, according to North Haven police.

East Haven police believed Reveron was at a home in the 1000 block of Hartford Turnpike and responded there with North Haven officers.

“Upon arrival to the residence, Jovierre was uncooperative, and in possession of a rifle,” North Haven police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Reveron was contained to the residence and the South-Central Regional SWAT Team was activated. Negotiators spoke with the individual for hours attempting to convince him to safely exit the home and surrender. At about 7:30 a.m. Reveron surrendered and was taken into custody without any injuries to him or any officers.

“Throughout the duration of this event the regional SWAT team controlled the scene. There was no threat to the public as the individual was contained the entire time. North Haven Detectives are working with the State’s Attorney’s Office to acquire search and arrest warrants for Reveron. He also is charged with unrelated crimes by the East Haven Police Department. Police said in an update that the arrest warrant was approved for Reveron. He was charged with first-degree threatening, interfering with an officer, risk of injury to a minor, and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Reveron was being held in the custody of the East Haven Police Department.

East Haven police posted a “big thank you” on Facebook to the North Haven Police Department for its help with the incident.

“We appreciate the partnership we have with you!” East Haven police wrote in the post.
