Beloved North Haven Firefighter Dies, Mourned By Many

"The department offers its deepest condolences to both family and friends during this difficult time...," the fire department said.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven Fire Department announced on Monday that Firefighter Paramedic John Bysko died suddenly.

"The North Haven Fire Department sadly acknowledges the sudden passing of Firefighter Paramedic John Bysko after 14 years of active service to the Town of North Haven," the fire department shared in a social media post. "The members of the department respected Firefighter Bysko for his professionalism and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations. The department offers its deepest condolences to both family and friends during this difficult time and respectfully requests privacy as friends are notified of his passing."

The North Haven Police Department said it "stands with our brothers and sisters at the North Haven Fire Department and the family and friends of Firefighter paramedic John Bysko. May he rest in peace."

The North Haven Professional Firefighters Association L2987 said, "It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of Firefighter John Bysko earlier this morning. John faithfully served the department for 14 years and was most recently assigned to Fire Headquarters. His unique sense of humor and passion for the job will be deeply missed by all who worked alongside him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Bysko family and stand ready to provide any support they may need in the weeks ahead. Information regarding services will be shared as it becomes available."
