NORTH HAVEN, CT — An 11-year-old dog is in need of a new home after her owner died suddenly in North Haven, according to the North Haven Animal Control.

“This poor senior lady had her whole world torn apart when her only friend and family member suddenly died,” the animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “Then she was all alone in the home for a long time waiting on someone to find her. We have named her JD as there is no family or friends to tell us what her real name is.”

The animal control said in an update that “JD” is current on all of her vaccines, and she is also spayed.

“When we first got her we took her to the vet and had some blood work pulled which the vet showed as normal for an old dog,” officials wrote. “We can say she is a good girl and has already been here longer than we would have liked as we were looking for a relative. We are now looking for a place where JD can spend whatever time she has left on a nice warm bed with a family who will give her love everyday.”

For more information, or to adopt her, contact the North Haven Animal Shelter at 203-239-5321 Ext. 8250.
