Holly LaPrade of North Haven Awarded Scholarship for HR Certification

Holly LaPrade of North Haven was recently selected as the recipient of the Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship. The scholarship was created by Andrea (Andy) Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, with a passion for helping others in the HR field. Holly is a Human Resources Manager with an organization based in North Haven.

“Holly is committed to advancing her career in HR. Those who obtain certification are driven to succeed, have made a serious commitment to their professional development, and are committed to a cycle of continuous learning; to maintain the credentials we must recertify every three years,” said Andy Thiede.

Holly was selected for the HR Certification Scholarship based on her ambition to excel in her HR career, and her advocacy work and dedication to helping others. She will use the scholarship to test for the SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional) designation.

“I have worked for an organization in North Haven for nearly 20 years in various capacities, and recently I stepped into the newly created Human Resources Manager position,” said Holly LaPrade. She added, “During the past year, I have thrived in this new role. In order to acclimate myself to my career path in the HR field, I took immediate steps to immerse myself in the industry and further my knowledge by enrolling in the SHRM certification study course at Central Connecticut State University. I deeply appreciate that this scholarship is being offered, due not only to Andy Thiede’s generosity, but her desire to serve as a mentor to emerging HR professionals.”

ABOUT THE ANDY THIEDE HR CERTIFICATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship was established in 2016 by Andrea (Andy) Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, who is committed to giving back to the profession. The scholarship helps offset the expense of obtaining an advanced HR certification.

To date, Andy has awarded 20 HR certification scholarships, totaling over $10,000.

Andy is an HR Consultant with KardasLarson LLC, and HRACC’s (Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut) Director of Chapter Operations. In addition to these roles, she serves as Treasurer of the SMA of Southern New England SHRM chapter, Treasurer for the Tri-State SHRM Conference, and Chapter Administrator for the SHRM Western CT chapter.
