Man Stole Acquaintance’s Vehicle After Loan: North Haven Police
The man is accused of not returning the vehicle after it was loaned to him, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Britain man is accused of stealing an acquaintance’s vehicle after it was loaned to him, but he never returned it, according to police.
Police said patrol officers took a report in late March of a vehicle not returned after being loaned to an acquaintance.
“The owner of the vehicle had made numerous attempts to contact the acquaintance, but claimed to have now been blocked by phone and social media from reaching them,” police wrote in a news release.

At the time of reporting the incident, police said the acquaintance had the vehicle for approximately six weeks. The vehicle was subsequently reported stolen, according to police.
Police said the vehicle was found unoccupied in Waterbury in May.

Omari Matthews, 36, of New Britain, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with larceny. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, according to police.
