Hamden Receives Funds to Build Regional Animal Shelter with North Haven
Hamden will have its first animal shelter in decades thanks to an approved budget by the Legislative Council.

An approved $7.9 million town capital budget by the Legislative Council includes funds for Hamden to build its animal shelter for the first time in decades, the New Haven Register reported.
Previously the town leased space at local boarding facilities and at the North Haven Animal Shelter to house animals in place of a local animal shelter, the Register reported.
Both Hamden and North Haven officials have expressed interest in the construction of a new regional facility that could eventually include other towns, according to the Register.
