The event has been lauded a major success for all involved and to date has collected more than $10k which will go directly to all six district schools.

“We had a wonderful turn out of enthusiastic trivia players, eager to play, have fun and to raise some money for the North Haven public schools,” said Kathy Rocklin, chair of the event.

The dynamic duo of Bernie Pellegrino, chair of the Education Foundation, and Russell Dallai, principal of North Haven High School, served as emcees of the event.

"It was a great night for the Foundation and the community as a whole,” said Pellegrino. “We are so appreciative of the support of all of our donors. The fact that we are able to produce an event where everyone had such a great evening together is certainly an added bonus!"

In the end the contest came down to Pellegrino Law Firm and Old Owls/Young Turks with Old Owls/Young Turks coming away with the victory.

“It is a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside the fine men and women of the North Haven Education Foundation,” said Russell Dallai. “They organize fantastic events that directly benefit students throughout the North Haven public schools.”

The NHEF was started in 2004 as a non-profit organization whose purpose was to bridge the gap between what the town could afford to give to the school system and what other things the system still really needed.

“Trivia night was a fun and competitive evening that brought hundreds of members of the community together in service of this great purpose,” added Dallai.

“We thank everyone who attended and who supported the event and look forward to seeing another great crowd at the next event.”

In the past 18 years, the NHEF has raised over $800k. Some of the projects funded by the Education Foundation include the technology labs at the middle school, science labs at the four elementary schools, a robotics program, girls' rugby at the High School, boys' and girls' lacrosse, sports and playground equipment, along with a writing program for our staff.

Teachers and administrators can apply for funds by using NHEF's creativity grant program.

“We are still collecting money from this wonderfully successful fundraiser, said Rocklin. “So far over $10k has been raised.

"Thanks to all that participated and donated. The North Haven schools are the beneficiaries of this event.”
