North Haven Police Sergeant Retires After More Than 25 Years
Police said the sergeant "mentored and trained a vast majority of our officers" and will serve the town in a new way.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police Sgt. Geoffrey Marquardt retired Monday after 26 years of service with the department.
While he said goodbye to the department, police said Marquardt will still serve the town as a school resource officer at Clintonville Elementary School when he begins a new chapter in the fall.
“Geoff was one of the nicest guys you’ll meet at the PD, so naturally we called him ‘angry Geoff,’” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Geoff was a field training officer, who mentored and trained a vast majority of our officers. He then took over as field training coordinator, and was tasked with identifying and training those who would go on to train our recruits.

“As a road supervisor, Geoff was the type of boss you wanted to work for. He was reasonable and fair, but would hold you accountable if you needed to be. He did the job with common sense, and always looked out for his crew.
“Day shift roll call won’t quite be the same for a while now that Geoff has left, but we are happy that he’ll be just down the street. Starting this fall he transitions into a new career path as a School Resource Officer at Clintonville Elementary School. We thank him for his dedicated years of service to the Town of North Haven, and wish him well in his new chapter!”
