She ‘Has A Heart Of Gold’: North Haven Hero

NORTH HAVEN, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Sally A. Hopkins, who nominated Mary Pahoda Sicignano of North Haven. She works in health care and has a “heart of gold and will do anything for anyone,” according to Hopkins.

Reason for recognition: I had MAJOR spinal surgery in Feb. THEN in the pandemic I was unable to drive and could barely move..... Mary after working hard all day as an OB nurse would come to my home and help wash my hair also vacuum for me take out my trash and cook for me...

One thing to know: Mary has a heart of gold and will do anything for anyone of her friends or family. She has an elderly mom she does so much for. Tragically lost her only child at 19 but is stronger than an ox in her heart.
