It's part of a larger, ongoing infrastructure upgrade project, said United Illuminating public information officer Michael West.
"This has nothing to do with recent storms," said West. "It's about replacing infrastructure that is old or cannot sustain the new voltage."
Johanna Schraeder, UI's project manager, said the North Haven project is one of many enhancements by UI across the 17 towns the company serves.
"You'll see us going from one town to the next as the power lines don't begin or end at the boundaries," said Schraeder.
