Police said the complainant told officers that the person inside the vehicle was 39-year-old Tara Menchetti of Meriden, who was later positively identified.

“The complainant reported that Menchetti was a former acquaintance of an employee and had previously been trespassed from the property,” police wrote in a news release. “Despite this, Menchetti continued to park her vehicle near the employee’s workplace and engage in behavior consistent with stalking. The complainant further advised that Menchetti had also been appearing at the employee’s residence.”

Investigators contacted the employee, who said the issues involving Menchetti had been ongoing for several months, according to police.

“The employee reported that Menchetti had been formally trespassed from their place of employment, as well as their residence, etc.,” police wrote.

Menchetti was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 13 on a warrant and charged with second-degree harassment and first-degree stalking.

“Stalking-related offenses are taken extremely seriously, and no one should feel unsafe or threatened in their place of work or home,” police wrote. “The North Haven Police Department encourages anyone experiencing similar behavior to report it immediately so appropriate action can be taken.”
