2 Rescued From House Fire, 4 Residents Displaced: Norwalk FD
Fire officials said they received reports of a home filling with smoke, and an elderly resident in a wheelchair was unable to exit.
NORWALK, CT — Two residents were rescued from a house fire in Norwalk that left a total of four residents displaced Wednesday evening, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz said the department received a report of a structure fire around 5:30 p.m. at a 1.5-story residential home on Forbell Drive.
Initial reports stated the home was filling with smoke and an elderly resident in a wheelchair was unable to exit, according to Markowitz.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the front door and fire venting out of the kitchen windows in back of the home, Markowitz said.
Firefighters entered through the front door and found two residents unable to exit the home. One person was lying on the floor and the other was on a couch, according to Markowitz.

Both residents were removed from the home and brought outside to an arriving ambulance. Two other residents had exited the home before crews arrived, Markowitz said.
Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire that was starting to extend to the front of the home, Markowitz said.
Additional firefighters made their way to the second floor to conduct a primary search and the home was ventilated. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, according to Markowitz.
A total of four residents were displaced by the fire. They were all taken to Norwalk Hospital, three due to smoke inhalation and one for an evaluation, Markowitz said.
According to Markowitz, the three residents being treated for smoke inhalation are currently being taken to the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital and the status of their condition is unknown.
No injuries to firefighters were reported. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire, Markowitz said.
