Scam Cost Victim Over $250,000, Norwalk Woman Arrested: Police

NORWALK, CT — A financial scam involving the purchase of multiple vehicles with credit cards cost a victim over $250,000 and resulted in the arrest of a Norwalk woman, according to Greenwich police.

Anna Marie Verzosa, 36, voluntarily surrendered to police on Dec. 16 on an arrest warrant that charged her with first-degree larceny, her arrest report notes.

Police say the arrest stems from a victim reporting a financial crime on Dec. 2, 2024.

"The victim allowed Verzosa to open credit cards and purchase vehicles in their name," police said. "The victim then realized Verzosa stopped making payments on the credit cards and vehicles leaving the victim responsible for the balance."

Police say an investigation found the victim purchased multiple vehicles at the direction of Verzosa as part of an ongoing scam that included unauthorized credit card charges in excess of $47,000.

There was an estimated total financial loss of at least approximately $254,431, police noted.

Verzosa was unable to post a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 31.
