A Norwalk home has been declared unfit for occupancy after a fire over the weekend, according to fire officials.
NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk home has been declared unfit for occupancy after a fire early Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay said the department received a report of a house fire on North Bridge Street around 1:30 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found the second floor of the home fully involved in flames, Shay said.

Two residents safely exited the home along with their pet parrot, according to Shay. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Shay said.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family's immediate needs.
Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan, according to the organization.
