Gloria Lombard, 85, Lifelong Norwalk Resident

Ms. Gloria Lombard passed away on November 30 at home, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph, Jr., and her parents, Joseph, Sr. and Theresa Corso Lombard. A lifelong resident of Norwalk for 85 years, she resided at the family home on Magnolia Avenue. She began her working career at Edwards Company on Connecticut Avenue.  After the closing of this facility, she went to work at the Fairfield County Savings Bank, from which she retired. Her civic activities included 46 years as a volunteer at Norwalk Hospital where she was honored many times for her dedicated service.  She was also an active member and past-president of the Womens’ Guild at St. Mary’s Church and a poll worker during elections. In 2008, she received the Saint Augustine Medal of Service from St. Mary’s Church.            

Gloria’s remaining family are her cousins who cared for her during her last few years. Her first cousins, MaryAnn and Albert Wehrheim, were her primary caregivers, assisted by James and Linda Forcellina and Robert and Karen Forcellina. Other close family members are Marie and Robert Zikaras of Fairfield, Rocco Corso of Waterbury and Dominic and Anne Forcellina of Florida.            

She will be sorely missed by her second cousins Brian and Melanie Wehrheim and their children Kyle and Cole, David and Debra Wehrheim and their children Jack and Jessica, Alyse and William Ciraco and their daughter, Annabella, Christopher Forcellina, and Bobby and Marc Forcellina.

Gloria was affectionately known to all as “Aunt Gloria”.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday December 5, at , Norwalk with burial to follow at , Norwalk. Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at the , 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk.
