In Case You Missed It: Tickets on Sale Soon for 'Jaws' with Appearance by Actor Richard Dreyfuss

Here's a story we ran before, and we've updated it with some new information.

Editor’s note: We originally published this article on Norwalk Patch on Feb. 17. We’re publishing it again to bring it to the attention of readers who may not have seen the story when it first ran.

As an added bonus, we’ve got some more information for you: There are indeed tickets still available for the general public to see actor Richard Dreyfuss at the evening showing of the film on June 14 in the Maritime Aquarium’s IMAX Theater (the aquarium says that although the movie is being shown on the six-story screen, it isn’t an IMAX movie).

Aquarium members have been able to buy tickets to the evening show with Dreyfuss (and an afternoon showing without him) for over a week. Now the general public can buy tickets, starting Monday morning, March 2, the aquarium recently announced.

Tickets go on sale at 9:30 a.m. Monday. “Prior to the evening show, Dreyfuss will share his experiences in making the film that famously scared millions of people out of the water in 1975 (and ever since). Dreyfuss played the story’s marine biologist Matt Hooper,” the aquarium announced in a recent news release.

Here are the ticket options for each of the the “Jaws” events (all on June 14):

Here’s the original article, and we’ve added the official movie preview at the bottom:

An announcement from Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium:

Maritime Aquarium members and members of our Friends Society have exclusive first crack NOW at purchasing tickets to be part of a special event on Sun., June 14: a visit by Richard Dreyfuss for a special 40th-anniversary presentation of “Jaws” on our six-story movie screen.

The Academy Award-winning actor will share his experiences in playing marine biologist Matt Hooper in “Jaws,” and take your questions prior to an evening screening of the film.

Only 310 tickets will be available. Previous such events featuring Gene Wilder (for “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”) and for Bill Nye the Science Guy sold out almost entirely through exclusive members-only sales, so ... consider becoming an Aquarium member or renewing your membership now for an opportunity to get tickets for the “Jaws”/ Dreyfuss event.

Here are the ticket options:

• a private VIP party at 5:30 p.m. with Richard Dreyfuss for up to 50 people, plus reserved seating for the 7 p.m. in-theater talk with Dreyfuss and the movie screening. $200 for members, $225 for non-members.

Based on the book by Peter Benchley and directed by Stephen Spielberg, “Jaws,” of course, was the first modern blockbuster, quickly becoming the highest-grossing movie ever (at the time). One writer said “Jaws” wasn’t just a movie, “it was an event, and its success changed forever the way Hollywood marketed films.”

Tickets are available only by phone, by calling (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206. (Leave a detailed message if calling after-hours, on the weekend or on President’s Day.)

Tickets (if there are any left) will go on sale to non-members on Mon., March 2, online and by phone.
