City Vehicle Stolen, Used In 'Street Take Over' Event: Norwalk Police

Police said a 17-year-old is accused of stealing a car belonging to the city's Engineering dept that was then used in a "street take over."

NORWALK, CT — A 17-year-old accused of stealing a city vehicle that was then used in a "street take over" event was arrested over the weekend, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said a vehicle stolen out of Norwalk was recovered in New Haven on Oct. 21.

Officers discovered the recovered 2010 Ford Crown Victoria belonged to the city's Engineering department and was last driven and seen at City Hall on Oct. 10, Evarts said.

According to Evarts, the stolen vehicle was also used in a "street take over" event on Oct. 19.

Detectives gathered enough evidence and established probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old, who was arrested Saturday on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and first-degree criminal mischief.

The juvenile was then taken to juvenile detention in Bridgeport following his arrest, Evarts said.
