Wilton Man Dies In Crash On Route 7 Connector In Norwalk: UPDATE

NORWALK, CT — An 80-year-old Wilton man was killed in a one-car crash southbound on the Route 7 Connector in Norwalk on Wednesday, according to Connecticut State Police.

Fred C. Hunter was killed when his 2012 Nissan Maxima drifted from the left lane across the thruway near exit 2, and crashed into a metal beam guardrail on the right shoulder, state police said in a release.

The crash occurred just after 12 p.m., and Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Members of the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad are investigating the crash, which damaged 100 feet of metal beam guardrail.

"Furthermore, anyone with dash camera footage that captured the accident is also asked to contact Trooper Federowicz," authorities said.
