Driver Extricated After 3-Vehicle Crash On I-95: FD

BREAKING: The driver's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and his passenger climbed out of the car's sunroof.

NORWALK, CT — A driver had to be extricated after a three-vehicle crash on I-95 between exits 16 and 17 Saturday morning.

The crash involved a BMW Sedan, an SUV and a tandem tractor-trailer. The Norwalk Fire Department, which responded to the crash, said the BMW Sedan apparently rear ended an SUV, sending it into the median. According to the fire department, the sedan then became wedged to the side rear tandem trailer of a truck, traveling over a thousand feet before detaching and becoming wedged against the right shoulder guardrail.

The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old man, had to be extricated and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, climbed out of the sunroof of the sedan before firefighters arrived on scene, fire officials said. The driver's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and the two SUV occupants walked to the ambulance.
