NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools will release students and staff at five schools early Wednesday in light of "extreme heat" in the forecast.

According to the district, the following schools will have a two-hour early dismissal Wednesday, Aug. 28, due to limited air conditioning in their buildings:

  • Naramake Elementary School
  • Rowayton Elementary School
  • Tracey Magnet School
  • West Rocks Middle School
  • Wolfpit Integrated Arts School

"We encourage all families to have their children dress in light, loose-fitting clothing and to bring a water bottle to school to stay hydrated throughout the day," district officials said in a Facebook post announcing the early dismissals.

District officials also noted they are continuing to monitor weather conditions and to follow the guidelines set by the state Department of Public Health, and would notify families of any changes if conditions become worse.
