Norwalk's Samantha Bardos Joins Eastern Softball Team
The Warriors softball team at Eastern Connecticut State University is amid its spring 2017 season. So far they have a record of 3-11.

From Eastern Connecticut State University: Among the players on the roster is Samantha Bardos '17 of Norwalk, who plays centerfielder and majors in Sociology. "Sam is our starting centerfielder with the speed and agility that allows her to track down balls and make a powerful throw into the infield. She has improved her hitting technique which will make her a valuable asset in the lineup," said Coach Pepin.
A successful program throughout the majority of its 40 years, the Eastern softball team needs just four victories to reach 1,000 in program history. Head Coach Diane Pepin has been around for a lot of those victories, entering her 16th season as coach and having been a player for four years from 1989-1992.
Of victory No.-1,000, Pepin says, "I think it will be monumental. Just being around this program for so long and seeing what Clyde Washburne (Eastern's first head coach from 1977-1987) has done and how competitive he was and how he built this program, to Jeff Anderson (who replaced Washburne from 1988 until his untimely passing following the 1992 season) and how he handled the team's success. It is going to be monumental and I think that getting alumni on board and really celebrating that milestone is going to be huge. I just think that for Coach Washburne and all of his expectations and what he envisioned for the program, I mean we wouldn't really have 1,000 wins. I learned a lot from him, or I learned a lot from Jeff, who learned a lot from Coach Washburne, and he set the tone for this program and that is the reason why we are so successful."
