Elderhouse, Inc., providing the highest quality adult day services to the greater Norwalk area for 48 years, announces a new fundraiser: Night at The Aquarium – A Celebration of Community to Benefit ElderHouse. The event will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. In addition to providing a fun evening of raising funds to support the services ElderHouse provides to older adults and their family caregivers, the event will honor two extraordinary community partners, Richard Tavella and the Greens Farms Academy Community Service Program.

Richard Tavella, President of award-winning Rick’s Main Roofing and long-time ElderHouse board member, is a firm believer in giving back to the community. He dedicates time and resources to local organizations and fundraisers to help make Norwalk a better place to live. “We are grateful for the support and resources that Rick brings to ElderHouse,” said ElderHouse Executive Director, Julia Schwartz-Leeper. “His efforts in caring for our building and leading our organization allow us to focus on our mission of caring for our clients.”

The Greens Farms Academy Community Service Program led by Susan Wilchinsky, has engaged hundreds of students in service to ElderHouse for over 26 years. Students participating in this intergenerational program meet weekly at the Norwalk-based adult day center, providing games, crafts, and meaningful interaction with older adults. “The academy has a strong commitment to meaningful, community learning for its students who practice empathy, understand citizenship, and begin a lifelong habit of service. We are grateful to partner with Greens Farms Academy for these many years, bringing these amazing young people with energy and compassion into our center. It is equally, a great learning experience for the students and participants.”, said Schwartz-Leeper.
