NORWALK, CT — A three-story Norwalk home was declared unfit for occupancy after crews extinguished a fire that burned through the roof of the building early Monday morning, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay said firefighters were called to Sasqua Road around 4 a.m. after receiving a report of a house fire.
When crews arrived at the 7,000-square-foot home, they found heavy fire had already burned through the roof, Shay said.

Stamford firefighters helped extinguish the blaze while crews from surrounding towns covered stations in Norwalk, according to Shay.
"Due to a low volume water supply in that area, we activated Stamford's 'Tanker Task Force' to supplement," Shay said in a news release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Shay.
