In a news release Wednesday, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said uniformed police officers will be patrolling the beach alongside members of the Emergency Services Unit, as has been standard in previous years.
Officers will also be assigned to traffic control posts throughout East Norwalk to assist with the expected increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic, Podgorski said.

"We urge all motorists to use extreme caution, especially in areas around Beach Road, where pedestrian traffic will be heavy," Podgorski said in a news release. "Please be patient and courteous, as officers will work diligently to clear traffic safely and efficiently."
Podgorski also noted certain items are not permitted at Calf Pasture Beach during the fireworks, including glass containers, dogs and fireworks of any kind.
"Individuals found in possession of prohibited items may be subject to fines and removal from the premises," Podgorski said. "These rules are in place to help ensure a safe and family-friendly environment for everyone in attendance."
The department urges all attendees to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
"We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend and look forward to a celebration enjoyed responsibly by all," Podgorski said.
