House Fire Breaks Out In Basement Of Norwalk Home: FD
Firefighters extinguished a house fire that broke out in the basement of a Norwalk home, according to fire officials.
NORWALK, CT — Firefighters extinguished a house fire that broke out Wednesday night in the basement of a Norwalk home, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Reardon said the department received a report of a house fire on Highland Avenue in the Rowayton area of the city around 8 p.m.
The initial call was for an activated fire alarm, which the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to, according to Reardon.

When RVFD crews arrived, a working basement fire was declared, which initiated an automatic mutual aid response from the Norwalk Fire Department, Reardon said.
The fire, which was contained to the basement and first floor of the home, was extinguished within 40 minutes, Reardon said.

No injuries were reported. The RVFD Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, according to Reardon.
