NORWALK, CT — A distribution center in Norwalk which services online Stop & Shop grocery customers will soon be closing, as well as a similar facility in Windsor, according to a company spokesperson.

In an email to Patch Friday morning, Jennifer Barr, director of external communications & community relations for the grocery chain, wrote, "Stop & Shop has made the difficult decision to close our warerooms located in Windsor and in Norwalk this fall. We will continue to service home delivery orders out of the facilities until that time, and all impacted associates will be offered other career opportunities within the company. These wareroom closures will not impact our local customers in Connecticut who can continue to shop with us online for pickup or home delivery after the facility’s closure. With this shift, we look forward to delivering an even better omnichannel customer experience with more options for same-day pickup and delivery, plus an even broader assortment of products."

No exact timetable has been established for the closure of the two centers.
