Michael T. Haid, 78, Army Veteran

Michael T. Haid, age 78 of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Norwalk, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Legacy Heights in Charlotte.

Born in New York NY, the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Montgomery) Haid, he was the husband of the late Mildred “Lee” (Krajcik) Haid.  A veteran of the Army, he served in Germany after World War II. He was a retired engineer responsible for designing custom machinery. Michael enjoyed sailing, flying remote control airplanes, family vacations and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Steven Haid and his wife Laura of Bolton, MA; his daughter Michelle Jegier and her husband Steve of Charlotte, NC; as well as 7 grandchildren: Chris, Alex, Becky, Erich, Matthew, Tommy and Joey.  He is also survived by 3 siblings: Bill Haid and his wife Kathleen; Dave Haid and his wife Blanche; and Mary Caruso and her husband Bill; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 21 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20 from 5 to 8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk.
