Nearly 25 Grams Of Crack Cocaine Seized, Norwalk Man Arrested: Police

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man was arrested Thursday after officers stopped his BMW and seized nearly 25 grams of crack cocaine and other items, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said officers spotted Derik McCoy, 35, of Norwalk, who was known to have four outstanding narcotics warrants, driving a 2006 Black BMW in town.

Officers stopped McCoy's vehicle, however he fled the area on foot, Evarts said.

McCoy was quickly arrested a short distance away, during which officers seized approximately 24.53 grams of crack cocaine, two scales and approximately $711, according to Evarts.

McCoy was charged with sale of narcotics, possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, interfering with officer and no front license plate. His bond was set at $150,000.

Evarts also noted the four outstanding sale of narcotic felony arrest warrants were the result of a long-term investigation, each of which had court-set bonds of $60,000, a total of $240,000.

McCoy is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Evarts.
